Judgement
Major Arcana · XX · Fire
The awakening call — the moment of honest self-reckoning and genuine renewal.
Upright meaning
An angel blows a trumpet from the clouds and figures rise from their coffins to face the reckoning, hands spread wide and faces upturned. Judgement is not the threat of condemnation; it is the invitation to honest self-assessment — to look at the full picture of what has been done and what has been left undone, and to use that honest accounting as the basis for a genuine new beginning. The call has been sounded. The question is whether you will answer it.
Reversed meaning
Judgement reversed marks the avoidance of the honest self-assessment that would allow genuine forward movement — the deafness to the call, whether from fear of what the accounting would reveal or from accumulated numbness to the possibility of genuine change. The angel is still blowing the trumpet; the question is whether the old patterns of self-deception or self-criticism will allow you to hear it.
