How to fix invalid_param (HTTP 400)

A parameter is present but malformed or out of range. The message says which.

What the API returns

{
  "error": {
    "code": "invalid_param",
    "message": "unknown IANA timezone \"…\"",
    "request_id": "770372810e5f2a70"
  }
}

Why it happens

  • tz as a city name ("Delhi") or a bare offset without sign; use Asia/Kolkata or +05:30 (URL-encode + as %2B).
  • date not in YYYY-MM-DD, time not in HH:MM, lat/lon outside ±90/±180.
  • An enum value the endpoint does not accept (ayanamsa, varga, house_system); the message lists the accepted ones.

How to fix it

  1. Fix the value the message names; the accepted formats are in the Quickstart under Shared query parameters.

Should your code retry?

No. The request is deterministically rejected; fix the key, IP or parameters and send it again.

See all codes on the troubleshooting index and the error envelope on Errors. Still stuck? Email [email protected] with the request_id.
