GET
10 credits

/v1/panchang/pradosh-kaal

Pradosh Kaal interval.

What this tells you

Pradosh Kaal is the twilight period around sunset, sacred to Shiva. The API returns a fixed 72-minute window (3 ghatis) centred on sunset: from 36 minutes before to 36 minutes after the first sunset on `date`. When Trayodashi (the 13th tithi) runs during Pradosh Kaal, the day is observed as Pradosh Vrat.

`*_jd` values are Julian Days in UT. `*_local` strings are local wall-clock time in the request `tz`, formatted "YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS" with no offset. The `time` parameter does not change the result. If the Sun does not set on `date` (polar day or night) the API returns 422 `data_unavailable`.

Usage tips

How to use it

  • Finding Pradosh Vrat days
This endpoint does not say whether the day is a Pradosh Vrat. To list them, call /v1/festivals/vrat with `type=pradosh`, `year`, `lat`, `lon` and `tz`. That endpoint picks the day with its own window (sunset to 96 minutes after sunset), so its times differ from this one.
  • Duration is fixed
The window is always 72 minutes long. There is no duration field.
