/v1/panchang/nakshatra-prediction

Daily prediction based on Tara Bala — computed from birth nakshatra vs today's Moon nakshatra, with health/work/relationships/finance/travel guidance.

What this tells you

Daily Nakshatra Prediction gives a personal daily reading from Tara Bala: the position of the day's Moon nakshatra counted from the birth nakshatra. The count falls into one of nine taras (Janma through Param-Mitra), and each tara carries a score, a label and guidance for health, work, relationships, finance and travel. The texts come from a fixed set of nine entries; what changes from day to day, and from person to person, is which tara applies.

Field reference

Every field in the response, with its type, a real example, and what it means.

FieldTypeMeaning
datestring (YYYY-MM-DD)
The requested date. Today's nakshatra is taken at local sunrise of this date.
example: "2027-01-15"
tzstring
Echo of the tz you sent.
example: "Asia/Kolkata"
birth_nakshatra.indexinteger (0–26)
Echo of the `birth_nak` parameter: 0 = Ashwini … 26 = Revati.
example: 3
birth_nakshatra.name / ruling_planet / deitystring
Name, lord and deity of the birth nakshatra. English only; the Purva/Uttara nakshatras use short forms such as "P.Phalguni".
example: "Rohini" / "Moon" / "Brahma"
today_nakshatra.indexinteger (0–26)
Moon's nakshatra at local sunrise of `date`.
example: 26
today_nakshatra.name / ruling_planet / deitystring
Name, lord and deity of today's nakshatra. English only, same short forms as above.
example: "Revati" / "Mercury" / "Pushan"
tara.positioninteger (1–9)
Count from the birth nakshatra to today's nakshatra (inclusive), reduced to 1–9. The 9-position cycle repeats 3 times across the 27 nakshatras.
example: 6
Jyotish: 1 = Janma, 2 = Sampat, 3 = Vipat, 4 = Kshema, 5 = Pratyak, 6 = Sadhana, 7 = Vadha, 8 = Mitra, 9 = Param-Mitra. This is the classical Tara Bala system from Muhurta Chintamani.
tara.namestring
Tara name for the position: Janma, Sampat, Vipat, Kshema, Pratyak, Sadhana, Vadha, Mitra or Param-Mitra.
example: "Sadhana"
tara.scoreinteger (0 | 5 | 10)
10 for Sampat, Kshema, Sadhana, Mitra and Param-Mitra; 5 for Janma; 0 for Vipat, Pratyak and Vadha. Same scale as `score` in /v1/muhurta/tara-bala.
example: 10
tara.auspiciousnessstring
Label for the tara: very_favorable (Param-Mitra), favorable (Sampat, Kshema, Sadhana, Mitra), neutral (Janma), caution (Pratyak) or avoid (Vipat, Vadha).
example: "favorable"
prediction.overall / health / work / relationships / finance / travel / guidancestring
Guidance text for each life area. English only. The text is fixed per tara, so everyone with the same tara today gets the same text.
example: "Sadhana tara — accomplishment and focused effort. Goals are within reach."
today_panchang.tithi / yoga / varastring
Tithi, yoga and weekday at local sunrise, for context.
example: "Saptami" / "Shiva" / "Friday"

Usage tips

How to use it

  • Get birth_nak once, use daily
`birth_nak` (required, 0–26) is the Moon's nakshatra at birth. Call /v1/chart/planets once with the birth details and take `nakshatra_idx` of the Moon (0 = Ashwini … 26 = Revati). Store it, then call this endpoint every day with `birth_nak`, `date`, `tz`, `lat` and `lon` — you do not need the birth chart again.
  • Highlight Vadha days
When `tara.name` is "Vadha" (position 7), warn users prominently — it is the most inauspicious tara. When it is "Param-Mitra" (position 9), celebrate it.
  • Cache per (date, birth_nak, place)
Today's nakshatra is taken at sunrise, so the response is fixed for the whole date; the `time` parameter does not change it. Cache for 24 hours.
