API Reference / Vedic Astrology / Panchang
/v1/panchang/brahma-muhurat
Brahma Muhurat window.
What this tells you
Brahma Muhurat is the pre-dawn period classically recommended for meditation, prayer and study. The API divides the night (the previous sunset to sunrise on `date`) into 15 equal muhurtas and returns the 14th: it starts two night-muhurtas before sunrise and ends one night-muhurta before sunrise. Its length is one fifteenth of the night, so it changes with the season (about 54 minutes in this winter example).

Usage tips
How to use it
- Daily remindersMeditation apps often schedule a notification for Brahma Muhurat. Call this endpoint once a day per user location and schedule from `window.start_local`.
- It ends before sunriseThe window ends one night-muhurta before sunrise, not at sunrise. Get the sunrise time from /v1/panchang/sunrise-sunset if you want to show both.
- Duration is not returnedCompute it as (window.end_jd − window.start_jd) × 1440 to get minutes.
