API Reference / Vedic Astrology / Panchang
/v1/panchang/advanced
Complete daily panchang: all 5 elements + muhurta windows (Rahu Kaal/Gulika/Abhijit/Brahma Muhurat) + Choghadiya + Hindu month + Samvat + Disha Shool + Nak Shool + Moon Nivas + Panchang Yogas + same-day transitions.
What this tells you
The `advanced` endpoint is a complete daily panchang in a single call. One response includes the five elements with end times, rise and set times, Sun and Moon signs, the Hindu month in both conventions, samvat and samvatsara, ritu and ayana, Disha Shool, Nak Shool, Moon Nivas, tithi and nakshatra metadata, special yogas, the next tithi, nakshatra and yoga when they change before the next sunrise, five muhurta windows (Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika, Abhijit, Brahma Muhurat), 16 Choghadiya slots, Durmuhurta, Varjyam and Amrit Kalam. It does not include Hora; use /v1/panchang/hora for that.

}Field reference
Every field in the response, with its type, a real example, and what it means.
| Field | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| date, location, tz, sunrise_jd … has_moonset, tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, vara | various | Every field of /v1/panchang/basic, with the same names and meanings: rise and set times, and the five elements at local sunrise with their end times. example: "tithi": { "index": 6, "name": "Saptami", … } |
| sun_sign / sun_sign_index | string / integer (0–11) | Sidereal sign of the Sun at sunrise. 0 = Aries … 11 = Pisces. Name translated when you pass `locale`. example: "Capricorn" / 9 |
| moon_sign / moon_sign_index | string / integer (0–11) | Sidereal sign of the Moon at sunrise. example: "Pisces" / 11 |
| hindu_month.index / name / display_name | integer (0–11) / string / string | Amanta lunar month at sunrise, as in /v1/panchang/hindu-month. 0 = Chaitra. display_name adds "Adhika " in a leap month. example: 9 / "Pausha" / "Pausha" |
| hindu_month.is_adhika | boolean | true during an adhika (leap) month. example: false |
| hindu_month.paksha | string | Paksha of the sunrise tithi: Shukla or Krishna. example: "Shukla" |
| hindu_month.name_amanta / name_purnimanta | string | Month name in both conventions. They differ in the Krishna paksha, when the purnimanta name is one month ahead. example: "Pausha" / "Pausha" |
| calendar_context.ritu / ritu_hi | string | Season, from the Sun's sidereal sign: two signs per ritu, starting with Aries and Taurus = Vasanta. example: "Hemanta" / "हेमंत" |
| calendar_context.ayana / ayana_hi | string | Uttarayana or Dakshinayana. Dakshinayana while the Sun is in sidereal Cancer to Sagittarius. example: "Uttarayana" / "उत्तरायण" |
| calendar_context.samvat_vikram / samvat_shaka | integer | Vikram Samvat and Shaka Samvat year numbers. example: 2083 / 1948 |
| calendar_context.samvatsara_name / samvatsara_name_hi | string | Name of the year in the 60-year Samvatsara cycle. example: "Siddharthi" / "सिद्धार्थी"Jyotish: The Brihaspati (Jupiter) samvatsara names the year in the classical Hindu calendar. |
| disha_shool.direction / direction_hi / remedy | string | Direction to avoid when travelling on this weekday, and the classical remedy. example: "West" / "पश्चिम" / "Eat curd (dahi) before traveling"Jyotish: Sunday West, Monday East, Tuesday North, Wednesday North, Thursday South, Friday West, Saturday East. |
| nak_shool.direction / remedy | string | Direction to avoid based on the nakshatra at sunrise — separate from the weekday-based Disha Shool. "none" and an empty remedy when the nakshatra has no restriction, as here. example: "none" / "" |
| moon_nivas.direction | string | Direction of the Moon's dwelling, from its sign at sunrise. The API uses blocks of three signs: Aries–Gemini East, Cancer–Virgo North, Libra–Sagittarius West, Capricorn–Pisces South. example: "South" |
| tithi_meta.deity / tithi_meta.type | string | Presiding deity and type of the sunrise tithi. Type is one of Nanda, Bhadra, Jaya, Rikta, Purna. example: "Surya" / "Bhadra"Jyotish: Tithi type sets general auspiciousness. Nanda and Purna are generally favourable; Rikta (4th, 9th, 14th) is avoided for new ventures. |
| nakshatra_meta.ruling_planet / deity / gana | string | Lord, deity and gana of the sunrise nakshatra. Gana is Deva, Manushya or Rakshasa. example: "Mercury" / "Pushan" / "Deva"Jyotish: Gana is used in matchmaking (Gana koota) and in general muhurta checks. |
| panchang_yogas | array | Special auspicious yogas active at sunrise. `name` is one of Amrit Siddhi, Siddha, Maitra, Sarvartha Siddhi; `trigger` names the nakshatra or tithi that formed it. Empty array when there are none. example: [{ "name": "Amrit Siddhi", "vara": "Friday", "trigger": "Revati nakshatra" }, …]Jyotish: Amrit Siddhi, Maitra and Sarvartha Siddhi are weekday + nakshatra combinations; Siddha here is a weekday + tithi combination. |
| next_tithi / next_nakshatra / next_yoga | object | omitted | The element that follows the sunrise one, with start_jd, start_local, index, name, end_jd and end_local. Present only when the sunrise element ends before the next sunrise. example: { "start_local": "2027-01-15 14:13:59", "index": 7, "name": "Ashtami", "end_local": "2027-01-16 13:43:30", … }Jyotish: A classical panchang lists every tithi and nakshatra that occurs between one sunrise and the next. These fields give the second one. |
| muhurta.rahu_kaal / yamaganda / gulika / abhijit / brahma_muhurat | object | Five muhurta windows, each with start_jd, end_jd (Julian Day, UT) and start_local, end_local. On Wednesday there is no Abhijit, and `abhijit` has start equal to end (both at sunrise). example: { "start_local": "2027-01-15 11:11:35", "end_local": "2027-01-15 12:30:31", … } |
| choghadiya.day / choghadiya.night | array (8 each) | The 16 Choghadiya slots, as in /v1/panchang/choghadiya: index 1–8 for day, 9–16 for night. Here `type` is always in English. example: [{ "index": 1, "type": "Chal", "is_day_ghadi": true, "window": { … } }, …] |
| durmuhurta | array | Durmuhurta windows of the day, as in /v1/panchang/durmuhurta. example: [{ "muhurta_index": 8, "window": { … } }, …] |
| varjyam / amrit_kalam | object | Varjyam and Amrit Kalam of the sunrise nakshatra, with start_jd, end_jd, start_local and end_local. They can fall outside the sunrise-to-sunrise day; here amrit_kalam (00:56–01:36) is before sunrise. example: { "start_local": "2027-01-15 14:51:08", "end_local": "2027-01-15 15:30:24", … } |
Usage tips
How to use it
- Panchang and Choghadiya togetherElements, Choghadiya and every muhurta window arrive in one response, so a full panchang page needs one request (plus /v1/panchang/hora if you show horas).
- For muhurta appsThis is the single call for any app that shows muhurta quality for a day: Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika, Abhijit, Brahma Muhurat, 16 Choghadiya slots, Durmuhurta, Varjyam, Amrit Kalam and Disha Shool all at once.
- For calendar appsUse `calendar_context` to display the Samvat year, season (ritu) and ayana (Uttarayana/Dakshinayana), and `hindu_month` for the month name, without separate calls.
- Check panchang_yogasWhen `panchang_yogas` is non-empty, highlight the day as especially auspicious in your UI.
- Abhijit on WednesdayOn Wednesday `muhurta.abhijit` has start equal to end. Treat a zero-length window as "no Abhijit today".
