/v1/chart/bhavabala
Bhava strength for all 12 houses.
What this tells you
Bhavabala measures the strength of each of the 12 houses (bhavas) from three parts: the strength of the house lord, the directional strength of the house, and the aspects it receives. A strong house delivers its significations (career, marriage, wealth etc.) reliably. A weak house needs supportive yogas or remedies to activate. All values are in virupas (60 virupas = 1 rupa).

Every field in the response, with its type, a real example, and what it means.
| Field | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| date | string | Birth date you sent (YYYY-MM-DD), echoed back. example: "1990-01-15" |
| time | string | Birth time you sent, echoed back. "12:00" when you leave `time` out. example: "10:30" |
| tz | string | Timezone you sent (IANA name or fixed offset such as +05:30), echoed back. example: "Asia/Kolkata" |
| location | object | Birth coordinates used. `alt` is in metres and is 0 unless you send `alt`. example: { "lat": 19.076, "lon": 72.8777, "alt": 0 } |
| ayanamsa | string | Ayanamsa used. Default lahiri; set it with the `ayanamsa` parameter (lahiri, raman, krishnamurti, fagan, yukteshwar, true_chitrapaksha). example: "lahiri" |
| ayanamsa_value | number | Ayanamsa in degrees at the birth moment. Sidereal longitude = tropical longitude − this value. example: 23.71795 |
| house_system | string | Echo of the optional `house_system` parameter (default whole_sign). This endpoint does not use it, so you never need to send it; only /v1/chart/houses changes with it. example: "whole_sign" |
| shadbala_version | string | Version tag of the Shadbala method used for the house-lord strength. example: "v2_bphs" |
| bhavabala[] | array of 12 objects | Houses 1 to 12, in order. example: [{ "house": 1, "bhavadhipati": 284.56, … }, …] |
| bhavabala[].house | integer (1–12) | House number. example: 1 |
| bhavabala[].bhavadhipati | number | Bhavadhipati Bala: the full Shadbala total (virupas) of the house lord. The lord is taken from the sign of the bhava madhya (house mid-point in the bhava chalit chart), so it can differ from the whole-sign lord. example: 284.56 |
| bhavabala[].bhava_dig_bala | number (0–60) | Bhava Dig Bala in virupas, in steps of 10. Depends on the kind of sign at the house mid-point: human signs are strongest in the 1st house, water signs in the 4th, insect signs in the 7th, four-footed signs in the 10th; it drops by 10 for each house away. example: 60 |
| bhavabala[].bhava_drsti | number | Bhava Drishti Bala in virupas: aspects on the house mid-point. Benefic aspects add and malefic aspects subtract, so it can be negative. example: 35.21 |
| bhavabala[].total | number | Sum of the three components, in virupas. Divide by 60 for rupas. example: 379.77 |
Usage tips
How to use it
- Pair with ShadbalaBhavabala complements Shadbala — one tells you about planets, the other about houses. Both together give a complete strength map.
- No rupa fieldDivide `total` by 60 if you want rupas, for example to show it next to `rupas` from /v1/chart/shadbala.
